– Senior Data ScientistThe Senior Data Scientist will lead in the identification and creation of cutting-edge data assets and predictive models that feed into Hastings’ market-leading pricing activities. This role is within the Claims and Fraud Data Science Team championing the adoption of the latest machine learning (ML) techniques to leverage powerful insights from vast amounts of customer information.AccountabilitiesYour remit will include the following:Develop best in-class models to predict claims outcomes, fraud and other risk KPIsEngineer powerful new rating factors to be deployed into our rating algorithmsIdentify, analyse and monetise new data sourcesSkills we would love you to haveEssentialStrong technical modelling skillsProven track record of delivering commercial valueKeen interest in emerging ML techniques and how these can be used within Underwriting & PricingStrong SQL skillsProficiency in R and/or PythonStrong senior stakeholder management and communication skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Actuaries and Pricing AnalystsDesirableExperience with using GitHub as a code collaboration toolPersonal AttributesNatural problem solver who loves building quality solutions to complex real-world challengesFocuses on the bigger picture but not afraid to get into the detail when necessaryDynamic, flexible and delivery-focussed work ethic required to adapt to a fast-paced environmentTakes ownership and accountability for key projects and workstreamsWhat we offerJoin us and you’ll find a different way of doing things.
