Overview

Version 1 is looking for an experienced data engineer to join its Managed Services team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in implementing DWH/Data Visualisation solutions, along with data ingestion and transformation pipelines for large scale operations. The role is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

Responsibilities
  • Work within a blended team of junior engineers up to Principal Architects with opportunities to develop skills across the Microsoft stack.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and identify gaps for training and progression.
  • Support and implement projects for many clients across several industry sectors, gaining exposure to different technologies and platforms from on-premise to Cloud.
  • Engage in full lifecycle activities including analysis, design, development, testing, user acceptance testing support and production implementation.
  • Communicate technical issues to business users and collaborate to implement continuous service improvements.
  • Adhere to coding standards and best practices; apply ITIL knowledge and service management principles.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience across the Microsoft BI Stack including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS & Power BI.
  • Experience supporting, creating and enhancing ETL solutions using Azure Data Factory.
  • Knowledge of Azure resources to enhance BI solutions (Azure VM, Azure SQL Database, Log Analytics, Logic Apps, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure Key Vault).
  • Strong SQL skills with ability to write performant queries and stored procedures; ability to reverse engineer issues to the source and implement fixes.
  • Experience designing and building reports in Power BI with understanding of DAX and Power Query.
  • Working knowledge of other BI tools (Qlik, Tableau, AWS Quicksight).
  • Knowledge of other databases (Oracle, MySQL).
  • Experience with disaster recovery, capacity planning for on-premise and cloud solutions.
  • Ability to estimate work pieces and execute on those estimates; perform DBA tasks such as performance tuning, sizing, backups, upgrades, migrations.
  • Knowledge of source control (Git) and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage change, and prioritise key activities.
  • Experience with end-to-end project lifecycles and production deployment.
  • ITIL knowledge and service management understanding; some knowledge of AWS and Attunity Replicate is beneficial.
