ROLE DESCRIPTION

The role of Senior Data Engineer will be a key role within the OTM Data team, reporting to the Head of Data and working closely with the CTO. The Data team is responsible for data acquisition, data loading, data quality, data processing, data delivery, and data support for OnTheMarket. This role will provide focus on delivering value to our customers, by leveraging data to improve the OTM users and agents experience.


This role would be suited to an individual with a background in Python, SQL, AWS, Looker, PyTorch, Airflow and Redshift/Postgres. The candidate must be able to exhibit proficiency in working with large volumes of data, automating data loads, and the ability to understand end user requirements with the goal of building a solution to provide high quality data processing and analysis as well as building APIs.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop data pipelines using Python, Airflow and Clojure
  • Data warehousing (Redshift/Spectrum)
  • Develop data solutions to address ad‑hoc business needs
  • Maintain existing reports and improve their performance

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience writing SQL queries and optimising query performance.
  • Strong skills in Python
  • Experience with AWS or GCP
  • Demonstrated experience and responsibility with data, processes, and building ETL pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Amazon Redshift, and Google BigQuery.
  • Building visualizations using tools such as Looker studio or equivalent
  • Experience in designing ETL/ELT solutions, preferably using tools like Airflow or AWS Glue
  • Solid analytical and technical skills
  • Good communications skills both verbally and written; this role will be working closely with business users.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Clojure or other JVM language production experience
  • Development & Deployment of machine learning models using PyTorch
  • Experience with GIS systems (Postgis, QGIS, …)
