Senior Data Engineer

Are you ready to lead the charge in delivering cutting-edge data engineering solutions that power business-critical decisions? At Ageas, we’re on a mission to transform how data drives our business—and we’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help us get there. As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll take ownership of discrete data engineering deliveries, ensuring the timely and accurate provision of data that underpins our business operating plans. You’ll lead by example, coach developers, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data platform.

Main Responsibilities as Senior Data Engineer
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of data solutions across the full development lifecycle.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery of assigned work and deputise for the Data Operations Manager when required.
  • Coach and mentor developers, fostering technical growth and capability within the team.
  • Collaborate with other teams across EDS to ensure seamless data delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data engineering standards, tools, and processes.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in data governance, security, and compliance across all data engineering activities.
  • Provide accurate estimates for development work and contribute to project planning and prioritisation.
Skills and experience you need as Senior Data Engineer
  • Proven experience in leading data engineering projects and mentoring teams.
  • Strong technical skills in data warehouse design, ETL development, and data lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, SQL, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Matillion preferred
  • CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps experience.
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform, and security concepts i.e. Keyvault, ACLs and RBACs
  • A passion for data and a drive to embed engineering excellence across the team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with dimensional modelling and its application in building scalable, analytical data solutions.
