Senior Data Engineer
Central London - Circ £80k - £90k + Bens

Senior Data Engineer required to join an expanding team for this exciting growth opportunity within the entertainment sector. Our client is embarking on a journey to bring data science and machine learning to the heart of how they get most from their customer data. The role aims to improve revenue, customer satisfaction, retention and acquisition by delivering actionable insight from customer data. With a new cloud-based data platform being built that will collate transactional and behavioural data, the data engineering team will play a pivotal role working with the wider data team and collaborating with a range of business areas. Our client can offer a vibrant and rewarding work environment based in the heart of Central London, and flexibility to work from home (2 or 3 days per week) if required.

Key responsibilities for the post include;

Convert raw data into usable information for analytics and business decision-making across business functions. Maximising value derived from data and enable data platform users to self-serve their data and insight needs. This will involve collaboration across technical and business teams to create assets that can be used and understood. Build data systems and pipelines Evaluate business needs and objectives. Recommend solutions and be responsible for detailed design. Technical leadership of other data engineers, e.g., early career data engineers Monitor the operation of production systems, e.g., ensure delta updates for the DW are complete prior to users accessing the refreshed data Conduct complex data analysis and report on results Prepare data for decision support (reports, dashboards etc), for integration with other systems Enhance and monitor data quality, including publication of a data catalogue Identify opportunities for data acquisition Develop analytical tools and programs 


Key skills and experience
Essential:
Expert SQL and Python skills. Track record of delivery of Cloud data platforms. Input to a product manager’s expression of business requirements (normally through use cases) and an architect’s high-level design. Write low level designs (based on requirements and high-level design) – including the physical data design - and work with the team to develop and deploy code. Problem-solving and communication skills. Very strong engineering skills working with data scientists and data engineers. Experience of manipulating and optimising the use of data from disparate sources. 
Desirable:
AWS, FiveTran, DBT and Snowflake experience. Team / Technical Leadership / Management Degree in Computer Science or a similar field. Certifications in AWS, Snowflake, or other equivalent technologies.
Our client can offer a salary in the region of £80,000 - £90,000 (dependent on experience) plus an attractive benefits package that includes a bonus scheme.
