Base pay range

Senior Data Engineer required (Python, FastAPI, DLT, Google Cloud) | Outside IR35 | 6-month initial assignment | Remote

  • Remote-first (occasional travel to London HQ)

About the role:

We’re partnered with a fast-scaling UK SaaS business (Series C backed) that is building out their next-generation data platform.

They’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take ownership of an early-stage environment and scale it into a robust, production-grade platform. This isn’t a maintenance role — it’s a rare opportunity to inherit the foundations, clean them up, and establish best practice that will underpin the business for years to come.

You’ll be trusted to deliver from day one, solving real challenges across APIs, pipelines, and architecture, while shaping how Swap builds data for scale.

Why this role is exciting:

  • Greenfield ownership – current stack is live but still early-stage; you’ll take control of structure, testing, observability, and best practice.
  • Impact from day one – visible, high-value work across customer-facing APIs, data pipelines, and platform reliability.
  • Series C scale-up – strong investor backing, growing quickly, and building a data-first culture at exactly the right inflection point.
  • Remote-first flexibility – work from anywhere in the UK, with occasional collaboration days in the London HQ.
  • Strong Python engineering background – FastAPI & Delta Live Tables (DLT) essential.
  • Experience with Fivetran for ingestion pipelines.
  • dbt – some basic use today, with plenty of scope to introduce best practice.
  • CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone reliable, hands-on, and detail-oriented.
  • A self-starter who thrives on ownership and responsibility.
  • A communicator who can explain technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Motivated by building something properly, for scale, not just keeping the lights on.

Details:

  • Contract length: 6 months initial (strong chance to extend)
  • Location: Remote-first (occasional visits to London HQ)
