Senior Data Architect – AI Delivery Focus

Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office

Duration: 12-Month Contract

We are seeking a delivery-focused Senior Data Architect to play a critical role in accelerating AI and data solution deliveries within a private banking environment. This role is ideal for someone who can make an immediate impact, combining deep technical knowledge with a strong understanding of data governance and business requirements.

You’ll help drive the evolution of a centralized, metadata-driven data platform, enabling self-service analytics and AI enablement using Microsoft Azure technologies, including Synapse, Fabric, and Azure AI services. Experience with the Microsoft Copilot ecosystem is highly desirable.

Working closely with the Lead Data Architect and the broader Architecture Practice, you’ll lead small-scale initiatives, remove bottlenecks, and fast-track delivery — all within governance and compliance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver end-to-end data architecture solutions with a strong focus on accelerating AI and analytics capabilities.
  • Design and implement scalable data ingestion frameworks using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse.
  • Architect a centralized, metadata-driven platform with built-in data quality, governance, and lineage.
  • Leverage Microsoft Fabric to enable self-service analytics across business units.
  • Work with Azure AI solutions to support AI/ML-driven use cases; exposure to the Copilot ecosystem is a plus.
  • Strengthen data cataloging and discovery using Microsoft Purview.
  • Support the transformation and repointing of the regulatory platform within existing architecture.
  • Ensure hyperscale SQL and other solutions align with compliance and operational needs.
  • Translate complex technical requirements into actionable solutions while maintaining alignment with governance policies and business goals.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders, mentoring teams and guiding solution design.
  • Balance hands-on technical delivery with broader strategic and architectural responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Data Architect, particularly in Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering AI and data solutions in complex, regulated settings.
  • Deep technical expertise across Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Fabric, and Purview.
  • Familiarity with Azure AI services and the Copilot ecosystem (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong background in data governance, metadata management, and quality frameworks.
  • Ability to move between technical deep dives and strategic, business-oriented discussions.
  • Agile mindset, comfortable working in small, fast-paced teams and wearing multiple hats.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Assessment Process
  1. Initial Screening (20 minutes): High-level discussion on experience, delivery mindset, and fit.
  2. Technical Interview (1 hour): In-depth discussion with the Lead Data Architect, focused on architecture and delivery.
  3. Final Interview : With the Head of Architecture – alignment with values, business goals, and organizational fit.

This is a high-priority 12-month contract with a clear roadmap and secured budget. You’ll be joining a high-performing team at a pivotal time in their AI and data transformation journey.

If you\'re a hands-on, delivery-driven Data Architect who thrives in both technical and governance landscapes, we want to hear from you.

Why Data Science Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Data science once meant advanced statistics, machine learning models and coding in Python or R. In the UK today, it has become one of the most in-demand professions across sectors — from healthcare to finance, retail to government. But as the field matures, employers now expect more than technical modelling skills. Modern data science is multidisciplinary. It requires not just coding and algorithms, but also legal knowledge, ethical reasoning, psychological insight, linguistic clarity and human-centred design. Data scientists are expected to interpret, communicate and apply data responsibly, with awareness of law, human behaviour and accessibility. In this article, we’ll explore why data science careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five disciplines intersect with data science, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to succeed in this transformed field.

Data Science Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Data Science Department

Data science is one of the most in-demand, dynamic, and multidisciplinary areas in the UK tech and business landscape. Organisations from finance, retail, health, government, and beyond are using data to drive decisions, automate processes, personalise services, predict trends, detect fraud, and more. To do that well, companies don’t just need good data scientists; they need teams with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, workflows, collaboration, and governance. If you're aiming for a role in data science or recruiting for one, understanding the structure of a data science department—and who does what—can make all the difference. This article breaks down the key roles, how they interact across the lifecycle of a data science project, what skills and qualifications are typical in the UK, expected salary ranges, challenges, trends, and how to build or grow an effective team.
