Job Title: Data Solution Architect (Azure)

Location: London, UK

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Solution Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure data services and cloud-native architecture. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and delivery — designing modern, scalable, and secure Azure data platforms that empower organizations to unlock business value through data.

As a key technical leader, you will define cloud data strategies, architect end-to-end Azure data solutions, and guide engineering teams through delivery. This is a client-facing role, where you’ll influence stakeholders, contribute to pre-sales, and ensure solutions adhere to Azure best practices, governance frameworks, and enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design end-to-end Azure data platforms, including ingestion, storage, transformation, analytics, and visualization layers.
  • Build solutions leveraging Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Databricks, Event Hubs, Stream Analytics, Power BI, and related services.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, cost-efficient, and maintainable Azure data architectures.
  • Create and present high-level and low-level architecture designs, ensuring clarity across technical and business teams.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, cloud engineers, and solution architects to ensure seamless implementation of designed solutions.
  • Establish and enforce Azure architecture standards, reusable frameworks, and data engineering best practices.
  • Evaluate and adopt new Azure tools, frameworks, and services to enhance the data ecosystem.
  • Support pre-sales engagements — developing solution proposals, architecture blueprints, and estimations for client opportunities.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders and C-level executives to define cloud data strategies and modernization roadmaps.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance are embedded across all Azure data solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineering teams, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Data Solution Architect or Data Platform Architect with a primary focus on Azure.
  • Hands-on expertise with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage (Gen2), Databricks, Power BI, Event Hubs, and Functions.
  • Strong background in data modeling, data warehousing, and real-time/batch data processing.
  • Experience implementing data integration pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and data transformation frameworks on Azure.
  • Knowledge of Azure security and identity management (RBAC, Key Vault, Managed Identities, networking, and encryption).
  • Familiarity with cost optimization techniques and Azure monitoring tools (e.g., Log Analytics, Azure Monitor).
  • Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for data pipeline deployment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset with proven problem-solving ability.
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Data Engineer Associate certifications.
  • Experience with data governance, lineage, and compliance frameworks (e.g., Purview, GDPR).
  • Knowledge of Power BI administration and data visualization best practices.
  • Exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud environments (advantageous but not essential).
  • Experience mentoring junior architects and engineers.

Why Join Us?

  • Be at the forefront of building modern Azure-based data ecosystems for leading enterprises.
  • Work with cutting-edge Microsoft technologies and contribute to data modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with talented teams and influential clients in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment.
  • Excellent opportunities for career growth, technical certification, and continuous learning.

Data Science Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Need To Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK data science hiring has shifted from title‑led CV screens to capability‑driven assessments that emphasise rigorous problem framing, high‑quality analytics & modelling, experiment/causality, production awareness (MLOps), governance/ethics, and measurable product or commercial impact. This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for product/data scientists, applied ML scientists, decision scientists, econometricians, growth/marketing analysts, and ML‑adjacent data scientists supporting LLM/AI products. Who this is for: Product/decision/data scientists, applied ML scientists, econometrics & causal inference specialists, experimentation leads, analytics engineers crossing into DS, ML generalists with strong statistics, and data scientists collaborating with platform/MLOps teams in the UK.

Why Data Science Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Data science once meant advanced statistics, machine learning models and coding in Python or R. In the UK today, it has become one of the most in-demand professions across sectors — from healthcare to finance, retail to government. But as the field matures, employers now expect more than technical modelling skills. Modern data science is multidisciplinary. It requires not just coding and algorithms, but also legal knowledge, ethical reasoning, psychological insight, linguistic clarity and human-centred design. Data scientists are expected to interpret, communicate and apply data responsibly, with awareness of law, human behaviour and accessibility. In this article, we’ll explore why data science careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five disciplines intersect with data science, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to succeed in this transformed field.

Data Science Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Data Science Department

Data science is one of the most in-demand, dynamic, and multidisciplinary areas in the UK tech and business landscape. Organisations from finance, retail, health, government, and beyond are using data to drive decisions, automate processes, personalise services, predict trends, detect fraud, and more. To do that well, companies don’t just need good data scientists; they need teams with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, workflows, collaboration, and governance. If you're aiming for a role in data science or recruiting for one, understanding the structure of a data science department—and who does what—can make all the difference. This article breaks down the key roles, how they interact across the lifecycle of a data science project, what skills and qualifications are typical in the UK, expected salary ranges, challenges, trends, and how to build or grow an effective team.
