This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact, mentor junior team members, and help shape the future of fraud prevention at a global scale

These are some of the key components to the position:

Design, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of fraud prevention rules and strategies to minimise losses while ensuring a positive customer experience.

Build and maintain insightful dashboards and reports using Looker and Tableau to track key fraud metrics and communicate performance to the wider business.

Translate complex analytical findings into clear, concise, and actionable recommendations for non-technical senior stakeholders, including Product, Operations, and Finance teams.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams within an Agile environment, using Jira to manage workloads, prioritize tasks, and run sprints for fraud-related projects.

Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to junior analysts within the team.

What will you bring to the team?

Proven experience in an analytics role, preferably in fintech, e-commerce, or marketplace (financial services/payment processing experience a plus).

Deep understanding of common fraud typologies (refund abuse, payment fraud, chargebacks, promo abuse).

Advanced proficiency in SQL (BigQuery experience a plus) and strong database acumen, including GitHub.

Advanced data visualization skills using tools like Looker and Tableau.

Strong communication ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for all audiences.

Comfortable presenting findings to influence senior and non-technical decision-makers.

Agile Mindset: Familiarity with Agile methodologies; practical experience with Jira and working within a sprint environment.

Sharp analytical mind with a passion for complex problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.

Cultural Awareness: Ability to achieve results in diverse, multi-market/multi-country environments.

Nice-to-Haves: Experience in specialized fraud roles, working knowledge of fraud detection tools (rules/ML scores), experience with automations (e.g., Google Apps Script), and background in food/grocery e-commerce.

Why Data Science Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Data science once meant advanced statistics, machine learning models and coding in Python or R. In the UK today, it has become one of the most in-demand professions across sectors — from healthcare to finance, retail to government. But as the field matures, employers now expect more than technical modelling skills. Modern data science is multidisciplinary. It requires not just coding and algorithms, but also legal knowledge, ethical reasoning, psychological insight, linguistic clarity and human-centred design. Data scientists are expected to interpret, communicate and apply data responsibly, with awareness of law, human behaviour and accessibility. In this article, we’ll explore why data science careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five disciplines intersect with data science, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to succeed in this transformed field.

Data Science Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Data Science Department

Data science is one of the most in-demand, dynamic, and multidisciplinary areas in the UK tech and business landscape. Organisations from finance, retail, health, government, and beyond are using data to drive decisions, automate processes, personalise services, predict trends, detect fraud, and more. To do that well, companies don’t just need good data scientists; they need teams with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, workflows, collaboration, and governance. If you're aiming for a role in data science or recruiting for one, understanding the structure of a data science department—and who does what—can make all the difference. This article breaks down the key roles, how they interact across the lifecycle of a data science project, what skills and qualifications are typical in the UK, expected salary ranges, challenges, trends, and how to build or grow an effective team.
