As part of Flutter\'s Finance Automation strategy, we are looking for an individual with strong coding ability and expertise in cloud-based data transfer solutions to join the team. This role sits within Flutter Group Finance Systems and Technology.

In this exciting role, your primary purpose will be to champion the strategic importance of automation within the CFO function. As we navigate the rapidly evolving gaming industry, automation plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, enhancing controls, and securing our position as a forward-thinking industry leader.

This role specifically focuses on utilizing AWS Transfer Family and Databricks to retrieve data from third-party providers via API and SFTP, ensuring seamless integration into Flutter\'s financial systems. Additionally, knowledge of networking, secure connectivity, S3 storage, and Databricks querying will be advantageous.

Role Overview

As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure primarily using AWS and Databricks. This role requires a blend of cloud engineering and data engineering expertise to support automation initiatives across Flutter\'s global finance organisation.

You will work closely with stakeholders across finance, technology, and security to ensure data flows securely and efficiently from external providers into our financial platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake to process large volumes of structured and semi-structured data.
  • Design ETL/ELT workflows to extract data from third-party APIs and SFTP sources, standardise and transform it for downstream financial systems.
  • Implement infrastructure and data management solutions on AWS, including secure storage, access control and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with finance and data teams to translate business requirements into reliable data workflows.
  • Apply software engineering principles such as version control, unit testing, error handling, and CI/CD deployment to all code and pipeline development.
  • Ensure all data pipelines are fully documented and meet appropriate standards for security, resilience and operational support.
Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Hands-on experience developing data pipelines in Databricks, with a strong understanding of Apache Spark and Delta Lake.
  • Proficient in Python for data transformation and automation tasks.
  • Solid understanding of AWS services, especially S3, Transfer Family, IAM, and VPC networking.
  • Experience integrating data from external APIs and SFTP sources.
  • Familiarity with SQL for data profiling, analysis, and transformation.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud and data security practices.
  • Experience working in a collaborative development environment using Git and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience working in a collaborative development environment using Git and infrastructure-as-code tools, specifically CDK for Terraform (CDKtf) and AWS CDK with TypeScript.
  • Ability to clearly document technical solutions and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Experience with job orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, AWS Step Functions)
  • Exposure to finance data structures or ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Fusion)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies in a cloud environment
  • Monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Grafana with Prometheus, or similar)
