We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our Data & Technology Team. This person would use their knowledge and understanding of business data analytics, methodologies, and technologies to identify and address UK Biobank's business analytics reporting requirements.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Meet with department leads and other key stakeholders to understand their requirements for business intelligence, data analysis, and data modelling
  • Work with the Head of Information Security to ensure all work adheres to security policies, data privacy regulations, and compliance standards
  • Collect and analyse user feedback to ensure reports meet the needs of the organisation
  • Support projects requiring business intelligence, ensuring solutions remain aligned with organisational objectives
  • Use best practices to design, build, and deploy secure ETL pipelines using SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Microsoft Power Automate, as well as third-party APIs
  • Check the accuracy and integrity of data and information to ensure high standards of quality are maintained

Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hybrid working is available. Located in Greater Manchester (initially based in Stockport with a move to Manchester Science Park mid to late 2026).

Reporting to the Database Administrator, you will have:

  • Coding Fluency:Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other languages for data scripting, transformation, and automation.
  • Unified Data Governance:Experience with unified data governance services like Microsoft Purview to manage and govern on-premises, multi-cloud, and SaaS data, including data discovery, classification, lineage tracking, and data security.
  • Workflow Automation:Experience with workflow automation tools like Power Automate or Zapier to streamline processes and connect various applications.
  • Data Visualisation:Ability to develop interactive dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI, transforming complex data into actionable insights.
  • Technical Versatility:Familiarity with multiple data management and automation tools, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and platforms
