Senior AI Engineer

Remote (UK-Based) | £80,000 - £100,000 | AI-Powered Innovation

Our client, a VC-backed startup, is on a mission to revolutionize the bid and tender process using AI-driven automation. Their platform helps businesses streamline and enhance their bidding strategies, cutting through complexity with intelligent recommendations.

As they continue to grow and scale, they are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to introduce structure, mentor their talented team, and drive innovation. With a current team of three junior-to-mid-level engineers, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the engineering culture and build cutting-edge AI solutions.

The Role

The Senior AI Engineer will play a key role in developing AI-powered applications, implementing best practices, and mentoring junior engineers. This individual will be responsible for driving technical excellence and ensuring the scalability of the platform.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Architect and implement AI-powered features, with a strong focus on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and vector databases
  2. Develop scalable back-end systems using Python
  3. Build seamless user interfaces with React
  4. Establish engineering best practices, bringing structure and efficiency to the development process
  5. Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers
  6. Collaborate with the founding team to define the technical roadmap and long-term strategy


Key Requirements

  1. Extensive experience with Python for AI and ML applications
  2. Strong front-end development skills with React
  3. Deep knowledge of vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
  4. Experience leading teams, implementing best practices, and mentoring engineers
  5. Ability to balance hands-on coding with technical leadership
  6. Passion for AI innovation and working in a fast-paced startup environment
