Senior Data Detective Wanted: Solve Business Mysteries & Shape the Future

Hampshire (South coast) you must be local | Up to £65k | 2 Days Office + 3 Days Wherever You Think Best

The Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It)

Ever wondered what happens when Sherlock Holmes meets Excel? You're about to find out.

We're hunting for a data wizard who can turn spreadsheet chaos into boardroom gold. You'll be the person senior leaders turn to when they need to make decisions that could make or break the company. No pressure... just kidding, there's loads of pressure, but the good kind that makes you feel like a superhero.

What You'll Actually Do (The Fun Stuff)

Detective Work: Hunt down data from every corner of the business like you're solving a mystery novel

Crystal Ball Gazing: Use SQL, PowerBI, and Python to predict the future (well, business outcomes)

Storytelling: Turn boring numbers into compelling narratives that make CEOs go "aha!"

Juggling Act: Manage multiple projects simultaneously without dropping the ball (we've all been there)

Think less "person who stares at spreadsheets all day" and more "business intelligence ninja who happens to love data."

The Perks (Because We Actually Care About You)

  • Your Birthday Off - Because adulting is hard enough without working on your special day

  • 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays - Proper time to recharge those analytical brain cells

  • 2 Charity Days - Feel good about making the world better

  • Learning Budget - Books, courses, conferences... feed your brain

  • Enhanced Everything - Mat/Pat leave, sick pay, all the good stuff

  • Company Socials - Including dodgeball (yes, really)

  • Work From Home 3 Days - Your cat/dog/houseplant makes an excellent rubber duck for debugging

    What We Need From You

    Must Haves:

  • SQL and PowerBI skills that would make a database swoon

  • Data wrangling abilities (cleaning, organizing, making sense of chaos)

  • Python knowledge is like finding a unicorn - rare and magical

  • SaaS metrics experience (CAC, churn, the usual suspects)

  • Presentation skills that don't put people to sleep

  • The organizational skills of a Swiss timekeeper

    Nice to Haves:

  • A sense of humor (you'll need it)

  • The ability to explain complex things to people who think "pivot table" is furniture

  • Commercial awareness beyond "money good, losses bad"

    The Reality Check

This isn't a job where someone holds your hand all day. You'll get a brief, disappear into your data cave, and emerge with insights that blow people's minds. Sometimes you'll present to senior management. Sometimes you'll be knee-deep in customer behavior patterns. Sometimes you'll be the person who spots the trend everyone else missed.

You'll work with sales teams, customer success, product folks, and basically everyone who has data they don't understand but desperately need to.

    Sample Projects (The Exciting Stuff)

  • Figure out why some customers love us and others... don't

  • Analyze whether our pricing changes are genius or career-limiting moves

  • Use third-party data to identify which industries we should be targeting

  • Basically, answer the questions that keep executives awake at night

    Ready to Apply?

If you've read this far and thought "this sounds like my kind of chaos," we want to hear from you. Send us your CV and tell us about a time you found a needle in a data haystack that actually mattered.

Warning: This role may cause sudden bursts of "I figured it out!" moments, increased job satisfaction, and the occasional urge to high-five your computer screen.

Equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, especially those who can make spreadsheets less scary

Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026: Emerging Tools, Languages & Platforms to Learn Now

The UK’s data science job market is evolving fast—from forecasting models and AI assistants to real-time decision systems. In 2026, data scientists aren’t just expected to build models—they’re responsible for shaping insights that fuel everything from patient care to predictive banking. Welcome to the Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026—your essential annual guide to the languages, tools, and platforms driving demand across the UK. Whether you’re entering the job market or reskilling mid-career, this roadmap helps you prioritise the skills that matter most right now.

How to Find Hidden Data Science Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like the RSS, BCS & More

The data science job market in the UK is thriving—but also increasingly competitive. As organisations in finance, healthcare, retail, government, and tech accelerate digital transformation, the demand for data talent has soared. Yet many of the best data science jobs are never posted publicly. They’re shared behind closed doors—within professional networks, at invite-only events, or through member-only mailing lists and specialist interest groups. These “hidden” roles are often filled through referrals, collaborations, or direct outreach to trusted experts. In this guide, we’ll show you how to unlock these hidden opportunities by engaging with key UK professional bodies such as the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), and Turing Society, plus communities like PyData and AI UK. You’ll learn how to use directories, CPD events, and networks to move beyond job boards—and into roles where you’re approached, not just applying.

How to Get a Better Data Science Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Redundancy can be tough to face, especially in a competitive field like data science. But it’s important to know: your experience, analytical thinking, and modelling skills are still in demand. Across sectors like healthcare, finance, e-commerce, government and AI startups, UK employers continue to seek data scientists who can deliver value through insight, prediction, and automation. This guide will walk you through how to bounce back from redundancy with purpose and clarity—whether you're a data analyst looking to step up, a mid-level data scientist, or a machine learning specialist seeking a better-aligned opportunity.
