What you'll be doing;
Within this role you will develop trading tools and models to manage real time and potential imbalance exposure and unhedged length for the D-1 auction. You will also be tasked to produce quantitative market analysis identifying opportunities and trends contributing to new hedging strategies for the curve.
Analysing primary data in the european energy markets (gas, power, coal and carbon) to identify useful insights for curve hedging strategies
Develop trading tools and models to help Energy Forecast Analyst manage real-time imbalance management during business hours
Develop trading tools and models as directed by the Energy Risk Manager and Trading Operations Manager to optimise unhedged position from 'Day-ahead' to 'within-day'
Development of risk tools in accordance with Group Hedging Policy
Review plant actual generation and help develop generation forecast in conjunction with IoT team
Develop fundamental power price scenarios & stack modelling to define trading strategy
Analysis to support Risk Manager in managing existing flexible assets and developing new investment proposals
Coordinate with 3rd party consultants to provide reports to Veolia
Maintain and ensure compliance of procedures as directed by the Risk Manager for the management of the Front Office
Support Risk Committee decision-making process on hedging power
Support / Develop revenue stream reporting from PPA
Support the interaction with wider Energy Market teams, Operations, Finance and Senior Management.
What we're looking for;
Highly Numerate and Analytical
Experience of developing forecasting models and quantitative analysis techniques
Highly skilled in use of more than one of the following programming languages: Python, R, SQL, Java, C/C++
Knowledge of UK Power and Gas Market
Experience of working with PowerBi desirable
