Hays are supporting a growing retail business based in Avonmouth to support with the recruitment for a permanent Principal Data Engineer. Salary up to c£60k and offering hybrid working typically three days per week on site.

Your new role& whatyou'll need to succeed

In the role you’ll join the Data and Analytics team and lead on a range of interesting data modernisation projects. You’ll work closely with the data engineering manager and support / mentor more junior & mid-level data engineers within the small team. You’ll need to be a hands-on technical data engineer with experience across a range of modern technologies. Experience with Microsoft fabric is preferable and good working knowledge on Apache Spark is essential – PySpark, SparkSQL and T-SQL. You’ll need good working knowledge of cloud data, specifically designing scalable solutions in Azure Data Lake, Synapse & Delta Lake. Data pipelines and orchestration is important as is programming & automation – knowledge of Phython, SQL and ETL processes is important.
