We are looking for a collaborative leader, with a minimum of a degree in a Data Science related topic. A Masters or PhD is desirable. Experience in techniques such as Bayesian inference, mixed effects modelling, machine learning or bioinformatics are essential, as is R&D using R, Python, Java and other relevant languages. We are looking for experience in technical leadership, studies, or projects, as well as people management or a consulting background.The Role:This is an exciting opportunity to work on a dynamic range of projects developing and using novel techniques and undertaking ground-breaking research and experimentation at the forefront of science. This role sits in the Chemical, Biological and Radiological Division, which provides an integrated Chemistry, Biology, Radiation and Medical Sciences capability.As a statistical data scientist, you will lead a range of statistically focused data science projects, helping to increase the use of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science capability across the division. You will support the development of an in silico capability leveraging emerging Digital Twin technology, advances in modular multi-fidelity modelling, and AI powered uncertainty quantification. Additionally, you will provide advice and carry out analysis for complex statistical research and help to develop tools for analysis, exploration and visualisation of CBR data. As a key member of the capability, you will set the technical direction of work, mentor and develop staff across the team and wider lab, provide information to customers, and work with our academic and industry partners.Essential Skills and Experience:A degree in a relevant subject area, or commensurate experience.Experience in techniques such as Bayesian inference, mixed effects modelling, machine learning or bioinformatics.Data science research and development using R, Python, Java and/or other relevant languages.Experience in visualisation and explanation of uncertainty.Interest in the development and application of novel statistical applications.Experience in technical leadership in studies or projects, people management or consulting.Desirable Skills and Experience:Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant area.Handling, curating, manipulating and analysing complex, high volume and high dimensionality data.Experience in data management and databases.Knowledge in version control (i.e. Git).An active membership or fellowship of a relevant professional body is desirable.To apply for this Principal Data Scientist Job, please click the button below and submit your latest CV.Curo Services endeavour to respond to all applications.
