Principal Data Scientist - Remote Remote Working - UKHome-based with occasional travel into the office £52,737 - £66,197(National Framework) or £58,409- £71,869 (London Framework - if youare London office based or homebased and live within the boundaryof the M25) Plus an additional allowance (paid as a separate amountto salary) of up to £7000 for exceptional candidates. A new and excitingopportunity has arisen for a Principal Data Scientist with a strongbackground in Advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) to lead, mentorand up skill a team of Data Scientists. Collaboratingcross-functionally, the role will focus on the delivery of AI andData Science programmes across the organisation, driving DataQuality, Data Governance and Best Practice. Proven and demonstrableexperience of Python coding and cloud computing is required coupledwith fantastic communication skills to problem solve and influenceacross all levels of the organisation. This is a leadership roleand proven experience of leading a team to deliver is required. KeyResponsibilities: 1. Lead the delivery of AI and Data Scienceprogramme across the organisation. 2. Lead and develop the DataScience Team. 3. Champion Data Science and Advanced Statistics,providing advice to colleagues on the delivery of complex analyticwork. 4. Contribute to the development of the AI and Data Scienceprogramme to drive high impact data science outcomes. 5. Experienceof leading a team to deliver Data Science solutions. 6. Promoteexcellence and innovation in data science methods for measuring thequality of health and social care services, learning from bestpractice (national/international), both internally and externally.7. Assess the effectiveness of different advanced statistical anddata science modelling approaches and advise data scientists onbest tools and approaches to support organisational commitments. 8.Manage competing demands for Data Science work within the Data& Insight unit, ensuring sufficient capacity to deliver whilemanaging stakeholder expectations. 9. Build and drive relationshipsinternally and externally in order to deliver the AI and DataScience programme. 10. Lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary teamsfrom across the unit to deliver outcomes. 11. Assure thatappropriate quality control and assurance is undertaken to ensureconsistency, accuracy and relevance of unit outputs. 12. Stayabreast of internal and external developments in data, policy andstructures of care delivery. 13. Promote a culture of respect andfairness and understand personal responsibilities around deliveringagainst diversity and inclusion strategy. Skills and Experience: 1.Post-graduate qualification in relevant subject or has equivalentprofessional experience. 2. In-depth understanding of a wide rangeof data science techniques, such as machine learning and naturallanguage processing, and able to apply them to a variety ofanalytic problems. 3. Previous experience in delivery of complex,advanced analytics and/or data science solutions. 4. Expert workingknowledge of a range of data science tools, especially Python, R,and SQL. 5. Experience of cloud computing - Cloud Computing -Azure, AWS or GCP. 6. Substantial experience working in cloud-basedtools like Databricks for Machine Learning, Azure Machine Learningand Azure AI Foundry as well as experience helping others to usethem. 7. Experience of delivering Data Science models intoproduction at scale, and collaboration with architecture andengineering teams. 8. Proven experience in leading and developingdata science or complex analytics teams. 9. Strong persuading andinfluencing abilities. 10. Proven experience in managing conflictand articulating coherent rationales for action. 11. Proven abilityto anticipate problems, know how to prevent them and understand howproblems fit into the larger picture. Can also developproblem-solving capabilities in others. 12. Expert ability tomanage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions acrosshigh risk and complexity or under constrained timescales. 13.Proven ability to tailor communication in a compelling way to bothtechnical and non-technical audiences.
