Meridian are working with a well-known, award-winning M&E company in the North-west. Due to continued growth they are able to offer a new role in their Estimating team, as they look to hire a Mechanical Estimator. They focus on commercial M&E projects, working with various clients on projects such as schools, colleges, government buildings, care homes, and hotels. As their Mechanical Estimator, you will be joining the Estimating and Pricing team, and work on Mechanical Building Services such as heating and ventilation, gas, HVAC, hot and cold water systems etc. With a focus on regionalised work, in a role that offers bonus and commission based off successful design and delivery, if you are looking to join a growing team in the Manchester area then this opportunity is perfect for you!

Joining a company that has a focus on working with local community and charity partners/eventsRequirements for this role:

Experience in estimating within the mechanical building services sector, such as plumbing systems, HVAC, heating and sanitary systems etc.
Strong commercial awareness, with a thorough understanding of commercial MEP projects
Proficiency using estimating software, including and Microsoft Office and Excel
Read and interpret technical MEP drawings
Combined an understanding of client's needs with your understanding of time constraints and budgeting to help accurately estimate timeframes and budgets
Excellent communication skills, including experience discussing and negotiating tenders, including attending supply chain meetings
Ability to take ownership of pricing and estimating processes, as well as working with other members of the Pre-Construction team
Great numerical skills and ability to analyse quantitative data
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar (desirable, not essential).Duties include (but are not exclusive to):

Managing the Mechanical estimating process from initial enquiry through to project submission
Working with pre-construction and design teams to gauge equipment, materials, and supply chain usage
Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical installation across various commercial projects
Review specifications, drawings, and tender documents to help communicate effectively with the supply chain, client, and your other internal management teams
Provide follow-up negotiations through discussions and meetings with clients
Liaise with subcontractors and members of the supply chain to best negotiate competitive quotations
