Market Data Analyst

OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

The Information and Data Management (IDM) department is responsible for master data management and MI production across all international subsidiaries of MUSHD and EMEA region for MUFG Bank. The mandate for the department is to:

• Develop a business led, technology enabled data strategy and roadmap for delivery of data management target state.

• Develop a data governance framework and establish data related policies and procedures to improve the value of data as an enterprise asset.

• Source, validate and maintain master data repositories of market and reference data.

• Agree data quality standards with business owners and track metrics and continuously improve data processes.

• Investigate and analyse data issues, identify the root cause and recommend control improvements

• Develop and support an MI platform optimised for the aggregation of data and the reporting of processed and analysed information.

• Deliver accurate, timely and insightful MI to the international business to support executive decision making and to meet statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.

The team operates internationally with staff currently based in London, New York and Hong Kong.

The Master Data Management team in London has two main functions:

• Market Data: Includes EOD pricing, IPV prices, time series and curve maintenance

• Reference Data: Includes counterparty, common reference, instrument and organisational data

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

The successful candidate will play a key role in the daily market data process by ensuring market data is processed in a timely and accurate fashion, while driving improvements and facilitating change. Our team is responsible for market data across various asset classes providing an excellent opportunity for exposure to Front Office, P&L, Operations and Risk management functions. The implementation of a strategic Enterprise Data Management system where our team is playing a key support role provides the opportunity to the individual to contribute to the successful path towards an international data model which is essential for the firm’s success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountable: To work as a team member in the Market Data team within Master Data Management. Furthermore under this arrangement you will be working alongside an outsourced delivery team in MGS. Responsible that market data captured daily both from internal and external sources is accurate and timely before its distribution to the various business areas, functions and systems. Responsible that data-production processes market data which adheres to the definition, standards, and quality rules agreed with stakeholders. Responsible to take ownership of assigned data issues and ensure that data issues are identified, prioritized, tracked and resolved. Responsible to enhance market data production processes, working with our stakeholders including Technology teams to improve data validation, enhance efficiency, reduce operational risk and optimise where possible existing strategic systems and data sources. Responsible to contribute actively to the enhancement and effective operation of key controls across team processes. Responsible to support cost rationalisation of market data requests. Responsible to maintain desk procedures up to date in an effort to improve team coverage and efficiency. Build positive and pro-active working relationships with the key stakeholders across the business.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of market data requirements Knowledge of different asset classes with a focus on fixed income and derivatives Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel essential) Desirable system experience; Murex, Markit EDM, Bloomberg
