LEGAL CASHIER X 2 ROLES

CENTRAL LONDON - HYBRID WORKING

Our client are law firm looking for an experienced Full-time Legal Cashier to work as part of the team in the Finance Department. The incumbent will be expected to have a full knowledge of the rules and accounting requirements of Solicitors’ firms.

This is a new role which will join the current team of 4 Legal Cashiers and a Finance Manager. The function is overseen by the Chief Finance and Operations Officer.

The Finance team work as part of the Operations Team supporting the firm in all finance related matters ensuring strict compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining office and client ledgers – includes processing of posting slips on the firm accounting software

  • Ensuring the organisation's bank accounts and cash books match up by performing daily bank reconciliations

  • Updating Cash Book receipts for Office account by close of Business daily.

  • Processing transactions, including money received by the organisation and payments out, by various financial mechanisms, including bank transfer and cheque

  • Producing and reviewing daily reports on the financial status of the organisation such as Client Data Integrity /Trial Balance/WIP Difference checks.

  • Assisting with invoicing clients for services rendered and chasing overdue payments owed when required

  • Regularly checking bookkeeping for errors and correcting them

  • Reporting any suspected account breaches or unauthorised activities via the appropriate channels

  • Processing of Credit card payment of outstanding invoices

  • Liaising with relevant parties, including fee earners, secretaries, clients, auditors, suppliers, banking providers.

  • Checking and resolving residual balances

  • Dealing with general finance queries and other ad hoc requests

  • Full involvement in the month-end process and availability at month-end close

  • Assisting with various internal and external audit requirements

    Hours of work:

    9.30am to 5.30pm

    Hybrid working:

    Salary:

    £35,000 FTE

    Qualifications: (Preferred)

    A recognised qualification in Legal Cashiering such as the Institute of Legal Cashiers and Administrators (ILCA) or a qualification obtained from the Institute of Legal Finance & Management.

    Required Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Understanding of basic banking processes

  • Knowledge/experience of annual audit and inspection processes

  • Ability to multi-task effectively with good time management skills

  • Good attention to detail

  • Good organisation of work and able to prioritise workload

  • Good teamworking and interpersonal skills

  • A desire for continual learning and development

  • Good written and verbal communication

  • Flexibility with availability of working days

    Desired Skills

  • Knowledge/experience of annual audit and inspection processes

  • Understanding of basic industry accounting rules and regulations

  • Knowledge of maintaining client and office accounts

  • Experience with legal accounting software (P4W, Carpe Diem)
