Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Lead Data Scientists oversee the planning, design, development, integration, and testing of high-quality data science solutions, ensuring best practices and proper documentation. Responsibilities include:

  1. Building effective relationships with clients and third-party partners.
  2. Owning end-to-end implementation and design for large data science services, translating designs into deployment.
  3. Taking technical responsibility across all stages of data science projects.
  4. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet user and business needs.
  5. Supporting less experienced practitioners and ensuring quality and velocity of work.
  6. Contributing to the growth of data science capabilities through recruitment and training.

Requirements

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure).
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions handling sensitive data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R, with best practices.
  • Understanding of data governance and data protection.
  • Experience planning data science activities, estimating efforts, and structuring teams.
  • Operational experience deploying data science applications in live environments.
  • Background in Agile methodologies and delivering incremental software solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in professional services or consultancy.
  • Experience with natural language processing and generative AI applications.
  • Knowledge of computer science fundamentals.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple projects and teams.
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Master’s or PhD in a STEM field is preferred.
