The Global Marine Operations/Marine Technical Operations (MTO) team within the Royal Caribbean Group is dedicated to leveraging data to drive business decisions and enhance operational efficiency across our fleet of cruise ships. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of data quality and compliance. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Governance Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Position is onsite and based in Weybridge, UK

Job Summary:

As a Data Governance Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our AMOS data governance framework. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and the ships to ensure the integrity, quality, and security of our data assets. Your role will involve defining data governance policies, standards, and procedures while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure AMOS data integrity, quality, and security across the organization.
Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and other stakeholders to define data quality metrics and establish data stewardship roles.
Monitor and assess data quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Conduct data profiling and analysis to understand data lineage and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
Support the implementation of data management tools and technologies that promote data governance best practices.
Facilitate data governance meetings, workshops, and training sessions to promote awareness and understanding of data governance principles across the organization.
Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to data governance and data management.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data protection and compliance with relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in data governance, data management, or a related role.
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices.
Experience with data quality assessment tools and techniques.
Familiarity with data modeling, metadata management, and data lineage concepts.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to data governance.
Proficient in SQL and data analysis tools; experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with AMOS is a plus.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is an advantage.
