We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions on the AWS platform. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud architecture, data modelling, and analytics services, along with strong leadership and communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data architectures that enable scalable, efficient, and secure data storage and processing in a cloud environment
• Define data models, schemas, and governance practices that ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the organisation
• Design and develop ETL processes to ingest and transform data from various structured and unstructured data sources into Data Lakes
• Ensure data architectures adhere to security best practices, including encryption, access control, and data privacy compliance (e.g. GDPR)
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to data architecture, data analysts, data migration specialists and database administrators, fostering growth and skills development across the team
• Empower, manager and evaluate team member performance
• Support in the recruitment process for new team members
• Collaborate closely with team members
• Debug and troubleshot complex issues across both development and production environments
• Write, maintain, and improve technical documentation to support project knowledge sharing and onboarding new team members
• Work closely with data engineering teams, business stakeholders, and IT leadership to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Support with business activities such as bids.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Data Architect, with focus on AWS\Azure and data warehousing solutions
• Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS and/or Azure (AWS preferred)
• Proven leadership experience in managing development teams
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, data governance, and data lifecycle management
• Experience designing and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other data-related programming languages
• Experience working in cross-functional teams
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Professional Certification (ideally AWS Certified Data Analytics)
• Professional qualification in Azure Cloud (Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
