We’re excited to be launching a brand-new data science capability at PA Housing and we’re looking for aJunior Data Scientistto join us at the start of this exciting journey. If you’re passionate about data, enjoy solving real-world problems, and want to help shape a more data-informed future, this could be your perfect next step.

This role is all about making sense of data, finding trends, building predictive models, and turning insights into action all while learning and growing in a supportive and forward-thinking team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Visualise data using tools like Power BI and create notebooks using Microsoft Fabric
  • Clean, prep, and explore raw data to uncover useful insights
  • Build and test predictive models using machine learning techniques
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, engaging, and actionable stories
  • Work on structured and unstructured datasets using Python, R, SQL, and data libraries
  • Collaborate with colleagues to understand business challenges and recommend data-driven solutions
  • Support A/B testing, model deployment, and tracking performance
  • Keep learning from your team, from data, and from new technologies


What we’re looking for

  • Has a degree (or equivalent experience) in data science, statistics, or a similar subject
  • Is familiar with Python, SQL, and tools like pandas, NumPy, and Power BI
  • Has a basic understanding of machine learning, data modelling, and cloud-based tools
  • Communicates clearly especially when explaining technical things to non-technical people
  • Is analytical, curious, and driven by solving problems
  • Works well independently but also loves collaborating as part of a team
  • Has a passion for data and the value it can bring to organisations like ours

This role of requires the successful candidate to complete a basic DBS check. A basic DBS check will show any unspent convictions.

So why do we need to know this information? This role will be required to visit / support PA Housing residents in their own homes on a regular basis. Therefore we have a duty to our residents to ensure that we have taken precautions regarding who will be visiting them and representing PA Housing.

Having unspent convictions will not necessarily preclude you from being recruited into the role; if you are potentially the successful candidate, we will complete a risk assessment with you to understand the circumstances around your conviction, how relevant they are to the post you have applied for and what remedial action , if any, have you have taken since your conviction. Suitable references will also need to be obtained prior to commencement of employment.
