We are looking for a

Junior Data Engineer to support our internal teams by extracting, transforming, and analysing data, and building the tools and repeatable processes that power our strategic insights. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the technical execution that supports our Architect 360 offering and helps our client-facing teams to succeed.

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will work in the Retail Strategy team, reporting to the Business Data Analytics Lead. You will work closely with your lead and collaborate with the wider teams, such as Product and Engineering and Customer Success, to provide the accurate data and insights needed to support our clients effectively.

You’ll play a key role in the team’s success by ensuring the data we provide is accurate and timely, helping to demonstrate to clients and prospects that Ometria is the foremost data-driven Customer Data and Experience Platform.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop into a Business Data Analytics or Backend Engineering role.

Role Outcomes

Execute on data extraction, transformation, and analysis for Ometria’s Architect 360 offering and other specific client projects. Build and maintain repeatable data searching processes and tools for the business to use, such as customer benchmarking. Support the delivery of ad hoc data and insights to various parts of the business, utilising tools such as Python, SQL, Jupyter notebooks and spreadsheets. Support the Retail Strategy team by providing the data and visualisations necessary to tell the right story to clients.

Responsibilities

Work from briefs provided by the Business Data Analytics Lead to find and extract the relevant data from the Ometria platform. Utilise SQL to query databases and use Python with Jupyter notebooks to analyse and present data. Build data-related tools for business use based on briefs from the manager. Ensure the accuracy and sense-check the results of data queries, with a high level of attention to detail. Collaborate with the marketing team to identify data-driven stories within our datasets that can be turned into engaging content.

Requirements

You have sound SQL skills and experience extracting data from databases. You have basic Python skills and experience working with Jupyter notebooks. A bachelor's degree in a quantitative subject is preferred. You have an eye for detail and the persistence to resolve data issues based on a given brief. You have a proactive, inquisitive mindset when it comes to using data to identify business opportunities and insights. You are organised, disciplined and consistent in the way you manage your time, tools, data, insights, and outputs. You are comfortable working with multiple key stakeholders across different departments within the business and have experience of communicating with the business and team on deliverables, timeframes managing their expectations around delivery. You are keen to learn to extract data from other sources like DataLakes and Datawarehouse, working with structured and unstructured data.
