At MIB our people are passionate about making roads safer by getting uninsured and hit-and-run drivers off our roads. Working in partnership with the Police, Insurers and Government our collective aim is to make it a thing of the past but, until that’s accomplished, we’re here to compensate victims quickly, fairly and compassionately.

Last year we helped more than 42,000 people struck by uninsured and hit-and-run drivers and paid over £400 million in compensation to support victims rebuild their lives.

We’re looking for a Junior Data Developer to support the development of data solutions to turn raw data into valuable insights, working within a source-controlled, sprint-based team.

Key Outputs

  • Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain data solutions that drive insights.
  • Assist in using Git and DevOps tools to help develop and maintain automated, standardized solutions.
  • Document data solutions clearly, including data dictionaries, how-to processes, requirements, and design decisions.
  • Meet with stakeholders to gather data requirements and collaborate with the development team to provide effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain ELT pipelines, control flows, and data models for reporting and analysis.
  • Take ownership of development, identifying learning opportunities and building the skills and experience necessary to become a well-rounded data developer.

Skills and Knowledge

  • A confident communicator, able to turn business needs into requirements and technical specifications and convey them to the wider business.
  • A determined problem solver, with an analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time management capabilities to ensure own workload is managed.
  • An eagerness to learn and a passion for continuous development.
  • Proactively collaborate with team members, while taking responsibility for your tasks and contributing to shared goals.
  • Highly proficient in using a variety of collaboration and productivity tools, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Basic understanding of data transformation & modelling techniques.
  • Basic understanding of SQL, including select queries and aggregations.
  • Basic understanding of Python and how it can be used to query, transform, and manipulate data.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools and an understanding of how to use visualisations to answer data questions and provide actionable insights.
  • Foundational understanding of key IT concepts.
  • Basic understanding of MIB business concepts, products and underlying data.

Salary £42,000 per annum

Grade 10

35 hours per week

£320 (before tax) start up allowance
