About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Java Developer to join a leading financial services organization on an initial 12-month contract. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in the Spring ecosystem and modern development practices to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient applications. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility to work in either Edinburgh or London.

Key Responsibilities



Application Development:

* Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using Spring Boot and related modules (e.g., Spring Data, Spring Security).

* Build and enhance RESTful APIs, adhering to industry best practices and design principles.

Database Integration:

* Work with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch to ensure data integrity and performance.

* Optimize queries and manage database interactions for scalability.

*

API Lifecycle Management:

* Document APIs using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI to support seamless integration and maintainability.

* Collaborate with API gateway platforms such as Apigee or AWS API Gateway.

*

Containerization & Orchestration:

* Leverage tools like Docker and Kubernetes to deploy and manage containerized applications efficiently.

*

Continuous Integration & Deployment:

* Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, tests, and deployments.

*

Version Control & Collaboration:

* Use Git for version control to manage codebase integrity and collaborate with team members effectively.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

* Proficiency in Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem (e.g., Spring Data, Spring Security).

* Strong knowledge of RESTful API design principles and best practices.

* Hands-on experience with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.

* Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes).

* Experience with API documentation tools like Swagger/OpenAPI.

* Knowledge of API gateway platforms, including Apigee or AWS API Gateway.

* Expertise in version control systems such as Git.

Desirable:

* Experience working in the financial services sector or other regulated industries.

* Familiarity with security best practices and authentication mechanisms in API design.
