Operations Team Leader – About the role

My client are a dynamic and fast-growing Managing General Agent (MGA) specialising in a diverse range of insurance products. As part of continued expansion they are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Operations Team Leader to join the team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about client service and eager to work at the heart of the insurance industry. You’ll collaborate with underwriters, brokers, TPAs and other key stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and contribute to their ongoing growth.

You will also play a key role in shaping and enhancing the operational framework of the business, ensuring the seamless execution of underwriting, compliance, finance, and IT.

Operations Team Leader – Key duties

Operational Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement operational strategies to support business growth and ensure alignment with company objectives.

Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in workflows and lead initiatives to enhance productivity, automation, and service delivery.

Technology & Systems Management: Work closely with the relevant teams to maintain and improve underwriting platforms, policy administration systems, and reporting tools.

Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, working with compliance teams to maintain best practices.

Data & Reporting: Oversee data quality and analytics, producing key performance reports to drive informed decision-making.

Stakeholder Management: Act as a key liaison between underwriting, finance, claims, compliance, and external partners to ensure cohesive operations.

People Management & Development: Lead and mentor the operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

Market Engagement: Stay updated with London Market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to ensure the business remains competitive.

Operations Team Leader – Key requirements

Strong experience in an operational management role within an MGA, Lloyd’s syndicate, or London Market insurer.

Proven experience in managing and improving operational systems, workflows, and technology solutions.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data.

Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

CIP, ACII or relevant insurance qualification (preferred but not essential).

Experience with underwriting platforms and data analytics tools.

Previous involvement in change management or digital transformation projects.
