Together, we’re supporting ENWL’s commitment to keeping the lights on and the network resilient by connecting skilled professionals like you with rewarding careers.

We’re looking for a Hub Technician to join ENWL’s Control team - a hands-on role at the heart of live network operations. If you thrive under pressure, have a sharp eye for detail, and want to make a genuine impact on network performance and customer experience, this could be your next move.

What’s the role all about?

This role is all about keeping things running smoothly and safely. You’ll support both dispatch teams and field engineers with real-time fault analysis, restoration strategies, and post-restoration reporting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Managing LV fault restoration - Monitoring LV fault inferencing processes and ensuring faults are dispatched to the right teams swiftly
Supporting HV Control Engineers - Operationally ‘dressing’ LV diagrams for faults and planned interruptions when LV backfeeds are applied
Managing planned LV supply interruptions - Co-ordinating activities and ensuring the right processes are followed
Ensuring accurate reporting - Handling NaFIRS input and audit checks to maintain data integrity
Acting as an information hub - Co-ordinating communication between field staff, the contact centre, and customers to ensure timely, accurate updates and high customer satisfaction
Maintaining system security - Providing support to field teams and supervising dispatchers, stepping in when needed to manage fault diagnosis and prioritisation
Acting as a quality assurance checkpoint - Ensuring information accuracy and raising issues with the LV Control Manager
Supporting team development - Assisting with training new team members
Taking on ad-hoc tasks - Supporting team objectives with flexibility and professionalism
Carrying out visual checks on completed work - Ensuring everything meets the right standards
Updating and maintaining LV operational diagrams - Keeping records up to date and accurate

We’re looking for people who have:

A strong understanding of electricity distribution symbology and network connectivity
A proactive, results-driven attitude with the ability to deliver under your own initiative
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret operational needs
Advanced IT and keyboard skills with a high attention to detail
Experience in LV fault location, repair, and a solid understanding of LV operations and restoration
Substation access authorisation (or working towards it)
An ONC, City & Guilds, or similar qualification in electrical engineering (desirable)
LV and Telecontrol System authorisation? That’s a bonus!

What success looks like:

Managing real-time faults and restoration with confidence and accuracy
Interpreting and updating network diagrams to a high standard
Prioritising and managing workload effectively, even under tight deadlines
Supporting ENWL’s operational goals and customer service targets

What’s in it for you?

An annual bonus scheme
25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), increasing with length of service
Access to an employee rewards portal with discounts on well-known brands
A market-leading contributory pension scheme
Employee assistance programme for support when you need it
Ongoing professional development through ENWL’s learning and development function

Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026: Emerging Tools, Languages & Platforms to Learn Now

The UK’s data science job market is evolving fast—from forecasting models and AI assistants to real-time decision systems. In 2026, data scientists aren’t just expected to build models—they’re responsible for shaping insights that fuel everything from patient care to predictive banking. Welcome to the Data Science Jobs Skills Radar 2026—your essential annual guide to the languages, tools, and platforms driving demand across the UK. Whether you’re entering the job market or reskilling mid-career, this roadmap helps you prioritise the skills that matter most right now.

How to Find Hidden Data Science Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like the RSS, BCS & More

The data science job market in the UK is thriving—but also increasingly competitive. As organisations in finance, healthcare, retail, government, and tech accelerate digital transformation, the demand for data talent has soared. Yet many of the best data science jobs are never posted publicly. They’re shared behind closed doors—within professional networks, at invite-only events, or through member-only mailing lists and specialist interest groups. These “hidden” roles are often filled through referrals, collaborations, or direct outreach to trusted experts. In this guide, we’ll show you how to unlock these hidden opportunities by engaging with key UK professional bodies such as the Royal Statistical Society (RSS), BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT), and Turing Society, plus communities like PyData and AI UK. You’ll learn how to use directories, CPD events, and networks to move beyond job boards—and into roles where you’re approached, not just applying.

How to Get a Better Data Science Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Redundancy can be tough to face, especially in a competitive field like data science. But it’s important to know: your experience, analytical thinking, and modelling skills are still in demand. Across sectors like healthcare, finance, e-commerce, government and AI startups, UK employers continue to seek data scientists who can deliver value through insight, prediction, and automation. This guide will walk you through how to bounce back from redundancy with purpose and clarity—whether you're a data analyst looking to step up, a mid-level data scientist, or a machine learning specialist seeking a better-aligned opportunity.
