Job Title:Head of Technology
Location:Hybrid (1 day per week in Croydon/Clapham area)

Role Overview:As the Head of Technology, you will join this startups founding team, reporting to the businesses Deputy MD. This is an opportunity to join a new and exciting insurance business that is part of a well-recognised retail brand. With a vast amount of data gathered from existing retail customers, the business is now focused on building and launching a new insurance product to the market and requires an experienced Head of Technology to do so.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the technology team to deliver strategic projects and day-to-day operations.
2. Implement and maintain scalable SaaS platforms, specifically focused on personal insurance lines.
3. Oversee the development of APIs and integration with third-party systems.
4. Drive data engineering initiatives to ensure data quality, availability, and security.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology strategies with business goals.
6. Play a hands-on role in technology development, particularly with Python and cloud technologies (preferably GCP).
7. Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, cloud architecture, and data management.
8. Develop and maintain a culture of innovation, adaptability, and technical excellence within the team.
9. Provide leadership in a fast-paced startup environment, making critical decisions and driving the company’s technical vision forward.

Skills & Experience:

1. Proven experience in a senior technology leadership role, ideally within an Insurtech, Insurer, MGA, or Broker business.
2. Knowledge of SaaS platforms and insurance/pricing systems.
3. Strong experience in API development and integration.
4. Expertise in data engineering, with experience in managing data pipelines, ETL processes, and databases.
5. Proficient in Python and cloud technologies, with GCP experience highly desirable.
6. Experience in an early-stage startup or dynamic, fast-paced environment is essential.
7. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and mentor a small team and collaborate with key stakeholders.
8. A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
