We are looking for a Head of Data Engineering in our Data team.
Data is core to our mission at Funding Circle to build a better financial world as well as being our key asset that everyone across the organisation has a part to play in making sure that we look after it, allowing us to better support our customers.

Our central data team lives in our Tech org and reports to the VP of Data. In order to strengthen our data maturity and become truly data driven we are committed to:

The role:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the data engineering and data platform functions, aligned with business objectives and the overall data and technology strategy
  • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing data engineering and data platform teams encouraging continuous learning and professional development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other data functions and product engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that drive data solutions for our customers
  • Drive value from our data platform to help define and implement a scalable and robust data architecture that supports the organisation's current and future needs
  • Evangelise "data as a product" and a data driven culture at Funding Circle
  • Proactively problem solve, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day

What we're looking for:

  • You have proven experience in senior leadership roles and have managed managers before.
  • You act as a coach and mentor to the people inside and outside of your team, continuously training your leadership muscle to be the best leader you can be
  • You communicate clearly with proven ability to adapt your communication style to different situations and stakeholders
  • You love solving problems through data and to create new opportunities for internal and external customers
  • You have successfully delivered complex data engineering & platform projects (and owned the budget for it ideally)
  • You have experience with cloud based data platforms and know your way around best practices and current tooling when it comes to building data products
