Head of Data Engineering - IT Services - Hybrid

We’re looking for an accomplished Head of Data Engineering to lead our UK-based consultancy’s data engineering team. This hybrid role will be central to delivering top-tier data infrastructure and strategy for our clients, ensuring scalability, performance, and innovation. As Head of Data Engineering, you will own the roadmap for data infrastructure, architect scalable data pipelines, and provide guidance on best practices for data management and storage solutions across cloud and on-premises environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and expand a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
• Data Infrastructure Strategy: Define and execute a data infrastructure roadmap aligned with company goals, championing modern data practices and tools.
• Scalable Solutions: Architect and implement high-performance data pipelines, handling vast volumes of data across varied client needs and tech stacks.
• Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to build a cohesive data ecosystem supporting real-time data processing and advanced analytics.
• Data Governance and Security: Develop and enforce standards for data quality, integrity, and security across all platforms.
• Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends to innovate and optimise our tech stack, pushing the boundaries of data engineering.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in data engineering leadership, ideally within a consultancy or fast-paced environment.
• Strong expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), big data tools, and ETL processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical complexities into business solutions.
• A passion for mentoring teams and driving engineering best practices across data platforms.
