Role Overview

As the Head of Backend Development, you will lead the development and optimisation of Luupli’s backend services. You will define the technical vision, architect scalable solutions, and ensure the backend infrastructure meets the evolving needs of our platform and users. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, strategic foresight, and a passion for delivering world-class backend systems.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

Define the technical roadmap for backend services in alignment with business goals.

Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

Make architectural decisions that ensure scalability, performance, and security.


Development and Deployment

Oversee the development and maintenance of backend microservices.

Ensure seamless deployment with CI/CD processes.

Drive integration of services with PostgreSQL, Redis, and message queues to ensure efficient data flow.


Optimisation and Performance

Monitor backend performance metrics, identifying and addressing bottlenecks proactively.

Optimise APIs for low latency and high throughput to support real-time user interactions.

Ensure efficient use of AWS resources to minimise costs without compromising performance.


Quality Assurance and Security

Implement best practices for secure coding, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Establish rigorous testing frameworks, including unit, integration, and load testing.

Ensure disaster recovery and high-availability solutions are in place.


Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions.

Partner with data engineers to ensure effective data management and analytics pipelines.

Provide technical insights and updates to stakeholders, including executives and product managers.


Qualifications

Must-Have:8+ years of experience in backend development, including 3+ years in a leadership role.

Expertisein C# .NET Core and microservice architecture.

Strong experience with AWSEKS and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Proficiency withPostgreSQL, Redis, and message queue systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).

Deep understanding of API design and best practices (REST, gRPC).

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), and logging systems (e.g., ELK stack).Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.


Preferred:

Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and CQRS/ES patterns.

Familiarity with caching strategies, data partitioning, and performance tuning for large-scale systems.

Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and implementing security at scale.

Background in scaling backend systems to support millions of users.

Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform).
