Gaming Data Analyst – HIRING ASAP

Duration: 18 Months
Location: Remote
Rate: £250 - £265 per day PAYE

Summary:
We are looking for a Games Data Analyst that is excited about working in an incredible AAA games studio, to improve decision making and change the experience of millions of players around the world. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with game designers and producers to understand business challenges, then craft research initiatives and analyse complex datasets aimed at uncovering valuable insights about our clients’ player base. Your primary focus will involve leveraging game and platform telemetry to conduct comprehensive quantitative analysis.

We are in search of an individual who will learn about our clients’ leading game, its vibrant player community, and the diverse business needs of our clients’ stakeholders. In this role, you will be an integral part of our clients’ cross-disciplinary insights team. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact and collaborate with producers, designers, engineers, and leadership at a leading AAA live service studio.

Skills:

Strong experience as a data analyst
Gaming experience
Experience with planning and instrumenting game/platform telemetry
Experience working with data engineers to create datasets based on customer behaviour
Strong working knowledge of SQL and/or Python
Strong analytic skills and facility with Excel
Experience with presenting data and creating reports (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
Communication, organisational and collaboration skills
Experience answering research questions around customer engagement
Responsibilities:
Work closely with game designers & producers to understand current and new game features to identify opportunities for research and design.
Write complex SQL/Python scripts to extract and analyse big, complex, multi-dimensional datasets within Databricks.
Own instrumentation of game telemetry during the development phase; work closely with Engineering and QA teams to assure timely implementation and quality of the identified BI hooks.
Generate actionable reports and recommendations on features that will improve retention, monetisation, and acquisition.
Share both game feature specific and general player insights with executive leadership and game teams regularly.
Look for opportunities to deploy more experiments within the game, like designing A/B tests that assess the impact and implementing content recommenders.
Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of digital product analytics, including telemetry, KPIs, and engagement metrics
Familiarity with game industry/game development
Proficiency in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design methodologies
Experience with A/B testing, recommenders, and audience segmentation
Documentation and data/reporting architecture design
Telemetry hook design
Experience with Databricks or similar platforms
Experience with GIT, version control, and code review
