We are currently looking for a (adjective)a Data Engineerto join ourClinical Practice Research Datalink teamin theSafety and Surveillancegroup.

This is afulltimeopportunity on a24month fixedterm contractbasis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade Canary Wharf London E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible hybrid way of working with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role this can flex up to 12 days a month with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices underpinned by science and research.

The Safety and Surveillance Group brings together into a single integrated structure devices and medicines safety expertise with enforcement capabilities. These functions will be supported by our data and evidence generating capabilities complementing our signal generating capabilities produced via the new Safety Connect System.

Part of the Safety and Surveillance group The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) with support from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is the UKs preeminent research service providing access to anonymised NHS data for research. In addition to supporting high quality observational research CPRD has developed world leading services based on using real world data to support clinical trials and interventional studies.

Whats the role

This roleoffers an exciting opportunity to help build on the CPRDs 30years of providing data for drug safety and epidemiological studies resulting in over 3500 peerreviewed publications investigating drug safety use of medicines effectiveness of health policy health care delivery and disease risk factors. Join us to help support delivery of our realworld research services that inform clinical guidance and best practice.

We are seeking an individual who is experienced in data processing data access and data analysis systems to develop and support endtoend data processing solutions. Responsibilities include developing endtoend Extraction Transform Load (ETL) data processing solutions from data collection through to; maintaining and supporting CPRDs data processing pipelines; ensuring data assets are of high quality and accompanied with appropriate levels of metadata; and identifying optimisations to enable scaling and repeatable use of data.

Oursuccessful candidatewill:

  • Beeducated to degree level or equivalent in either a computer sciencebased ITbased mathsbased or related discipline or equivalent wokrelated experience.
  • Have proven ability of designing building and testing data products based on feeds from multiple systems using a range of different storage technologies access methods or both.
  • Have proven ability of delivering data solutions in accordance with agreed organisational standards that ensure services are resilient scalable and future proof.
  • Have proven ability of producing maintaining and updating relevant data models for an organisations specific needs.
  • Have proven ability of designing coding testing correcting and documenting programmes or scripts.
