About the role:

You'll be a key member of the Group finance function taking responsibility for monthly reporting, forecasting and control across a number of key cost functions (predominantly supply chain, logistics, warehousing and distribution (including third-party logistics facilities)) as well as ad hoc analysis and business intelligence gathering. This role will consistently challenge how the business is run and provide the levels of insight, analysis and management information to underpin sustainable business growth. 

Taking a proactive and analytical approach to your role, you will provide a process driven business partnering role reporting into a Senior Director within the core finance function, operating within the Group finance facility of the business, driving process improvement and business transformation with exposure to various key senior stakeholders at Executive level. You'll work closely within an established team, many of whom have developed within the business through talent identification, supported by a talented finance leadership team. 

Key duties will include:

Take ownership of financial and advisory delivery to key internal and external stakeholders, continually driving enhanced cost transparency through improved MI leading driving efficiencies through procurement activities
Work closely with various department leaders, presenting monthly financial results, providing clear understanding of budget variances, and updating yearly financial forecasts
Partner with functional department leaders to finalise budget and re-forecast spending, providing challenge where applicable to ensure costs are controlled and efficiency opportunities highlighted
Drive continual improvement in reporting, resulting in preparation of high quality and insightful financial information supporting significant decision making activities across the business
Review monthly spend, providing variance analysis on expenditure & ensuring control is maintained through sufficient review and discussion with Group finance to ensure cost allocation to the appropriate department & cost lines
Review all business investment cases in the appropriate business functions, ensuring financial values are accurate and robust, including appraisal post-investment to track progress and performance to report back
Involvement in ad-hoc projects at direction of key senior leaders across the organisation
Supporting on transformation activities, enhancing the Commercial Finance support provided to various leaders with increased value add

About you:

You will be a confident and competent finance professional ideally with established business partnering experience. You will ideally have sound supply chain and/or logistics sector experience - alternatively a background from a corporate, service driven organisation.

Your experience is key to this role, so applications are considered from part-qualified and qualified finance professionals (salaries are commensurate with both experience and qualification). Study support is provided for individuals studying.

You will be able to demonstrate outstanding commercial and business acumen with strong communication skills, able to communicate effectively with financial and non-financial stakeholders both internal and external.

This is a hands-on role, involved in month-end (for c.3 days p/m) and some transactional workload, so a willingness to have a hands-on approach to pro-actively resolve issues is key for success in the role.

Competent user of ERP systems (Oracle is used here) alongside a strong user of Excel

Salaries considered for this role are between £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience and qualification. Qualified accountants who match all areas of the job requirements can potentially negotiate on salary up to £65,000.
