Rationale for role:

Purpose of the role

To define, direct, and govern the bank’s target data architecture, including shared data environments, data models, and standards, ensuring data accuracy, security, and accessibility to meet stakeholder needs.

Accountabilities

  • Developing the bank's data architecture strategy and transition plan aligned with bank-wide goals.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to promote standardized, safe, and valuable data usage.
  • Maintaining data architecture governance, standards, and protection policies to support data quality and security.
  • Guiding projects to align with the target data architecture and monitoring progress.
  • Defining reusable data capabilities, assets, and technologies for data integration and access.
  • Overseeing the logical and physical data structures within the bank’s data resources.
  • Monitoring regulatory standards and industry developments for potential impacts.
  • Assessing and selecting advanced data technologies to ensure compliance and quality standards.

Director Expectations

  • Leading a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, and influencing policies and procedures.
  • Managing a large team or leading organization-wide projects, providing technical expertise and thought leadership.
  • Advising senior management and committees on strategic decisions.
  • Managing resourcing, budgeting, and policy development for the sub-function.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a culture of adherence.
  • Monitoring external industry and regulatory environments to influence and adapt strategies.
  • Applying extensive knowledge of industry practices and external market developments.
  • Utilizing advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
  • Making significant decisions and influencing stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Serving as a principal contact and spokesperson for the function.
