LCP Delta are looking for anEnergy Model Developerto join our Energy Modelling team as we continue to grow and develop new tools for our clients. This is an exciting role for a developer to join our fast-growing team and to play a key role in our growth whilst contributing to the energy transition to Net Zero. The role will involve developing new and existing applications and models using our custom-built framework.

LCP Delta is working to enable the energy transition through a variety of offerings. One of these offerings is the development of proprietary power market models to simulate the UK and European power markets. We use these models for a range of purposes, including advising governments on the impacts of market reforms and the routes to net zero, as well as supporting investors with robust forecasting to enable them to deploy capital into the energy transition. To date, we have supported over £3bn of direct investment into the energy transition and have supported governments and regulators with key reform decisions for over a decade.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing new and maintaining existing models used by our energy modelling team on client projects or used directly by clients.
  • Primarily focusing on backend development while also supporting upgrades to web-based front ends.
  • Collaborating with non-IT technical users to understand requirements and business objectives, identifying issues, and providing solutions in a timely manner.
  • Managing and supporting junior developers.
  • Being an active, engaged, and proficient member of the model development team.

What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?

  • A relevant BSc, MSc, or MBA qualification, focusing on mathematics or computer science or equivalent experience.
  • An excellent understanding of C# programming.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to discuss technical matters in non-technical language.
  • Comfort in working collaboratively within a team, enthusiasm for delivering an exceptional user experience, and eagerness to learn new skills on the job.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Visual Studio.
  • Experience in using Microsoft technical stack and Azure DevOps (desirable).
  • Experience with front-end web languages would be beneficial, particularly proficiency in Vue JS and TypeScript would be advantageous.
  • Ability to demonstrate clear and logical thinking processes, along with the capability to effectively communicate examples of work.
  • Experience with energy market modelling and optimisation techniques would be advantageous.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a workload involving multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Desirable (but not essential) experience or exposure to power market modelling.
