Director of Legal & Governance (Maternity Cover)

Up to £90,000 + Car allowance
Home-based with some travel
Full-time | 10-month contract | Flexible working available

We're seeking a confident, highly experienced governance professional to join us in a Director-level position leading our legal, governance, procurement, data protection, and quality assurance functions. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a pivotal executive role that sits on the Senior Leadership Team, shaping organisational strategy and oversight.

What You'll Be Doing:

Serving as Board Secretary, ensuring the smooth running of the Board and Committees

Acting as the Data Protection Officer, leading GDPR compliance and data strategy

Providing strategic leadership on legal, procurement, governance, and risk matters

Supporting high-level decision-making with the CEO, Board, and Executive team

Overseeing supplier contracts, procurement processes, and legal due diligence

Leading risk and quality assurance frameworks that safeguard organisational resilience

Acting as an internal consultant and advisor across all compliance functions

What We're Looking For:

A degree or master's in Law, Governance, Business or Finance, or part/full Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) qualification

Experience in a Company Secretary or Board Secretary role, ideally within the public or not-for-profit sector

Strong understanding of governance frameworks, legal risk, and regulatory compliance

Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams with a collaborative, service-minded approach

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with stakeholders at all levels
