Role Summary
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Director of Data & Insights is responsible for leading the Data & Insight team at TalkTalk to provide actionable insights that create value, drive business growth and operational efficiency.
Responsible for strategic planning & direction, prioritisation, overseeing effective execution of the data strategy, and accountable for data governance, including stakeholder management, and ensuring data-driven decision-making across the company.
This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of data analytics, data science, data engineering, business intelligence tools, and data operations and management.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading data & insights teams and delivering impactful insights to senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy:
Develop and execute the data strategy in alignment with the company’s goals.

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data analytics, data science, data engineering, business intelligence, and data operations and data management professionals.

Foster a data-driven culture and innovation within the organisation.

Insight, Analytics & Data Science:
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced analytics models and algorithms to solve complex business problems.

Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and validity of data insights and predictive models.

Enable effective collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business growth and efficiency.

Understanding customer behaviour and preferences to drive strategies, provides insights into performance and user experience.

Data Engineering:
Oversee the design, build and maintenance of the infrastructure required for data collection, storage, and processing.

Ensure cost effective development and maintenance of robust data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure the availability and quality of data.

Oversee the management of data infrastructure, including databases and our cloud-based data platform.

Ensure data governance and compliance with relevant data privacy and security regulations.

Business Intelligence & Reporting:
Drive the development and deployment of business intelligence tools and dashboards to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of reports and analytics to support strategic decision-making.

Collaborate with business leaders to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.

Data Operations & Management:
Ensures policies, standards & guardrails are in place to maintain data quality, accuracy, consistency in day to operations of data systems.

Collaborate with risk and compliance to ensures compliance with relevant policies and regulations for gathering, storing, transacting and processing data.

Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as an ambassador for data & insights, acting as key liaison between the data & insight team and other functions, including marketing, finance, operations, and product.

Communicate complex data insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and industry experts.
