Data Warehouse Developer EPR Integration Specialist

Are you passionate about data integration and digital transformation in healthcare? We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Warehouse Developer - EPR Integration Specialist to join our Digital Directorate. This is a pivotal role supporting the implementation of our new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system, ensuring seamless data flow into our data warehouse and onward to reporting systems. You'll lead on developing robust ETL processes, support data migration, and act as a technical expert across integration projects. Main duties of the job

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated ETL processes to integrate EPR data into the Trust's data warehouse.
  • Ensure data accuracy, quality, and governance across reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Support the EPR data migration workstream by developing extraction routines and validating migrated data.
  • Act as the technical liaison with EPR vendors and third-party system providers to resolve integration issues.
  • Provide line management and mentorship to the Data Warehouse Programmer, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Contribute to Trust-wide digital transformation initiatives, offering expert advice on data architecture and interoperability.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness.

Person SpecificationQualifications

  • Masters level qualification or equivalent level of knowledge attained through a recognised training in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline and equivalent proven relevant experience
  • Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud certification

Experience

  • Significant experience in developing and supporting ETL processes and data warehouse systems
  • Experience working with large-scale healthcare data, including EPR systems
  • Experience using Azure Data Factory, T-SQL, and data modelling tools
  • Experience leading technical projects or workstreams
  • Experience with SystmOne or other NHS clinical systems
  • Experience contributing to data migration programmes

Skills

  • Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information; agreement or co-operation required; present complex, sensitive or contentious information to large groups. Communicates a range of IM&T issues which can be complex and multi-stranded. Negotiates priorities on e.g. IT training, system design and development, reporting processes with non IM&T managers; Trains or presents on complex IM&T issues.
  • Complex facts or situations requiring analysis, interpretation, comparison of a range of options - Analyses, investigates and resolves complex IM&T queries and issues/problems e.g. System errors, breaches of security or confidentiality, user requirements which may require configuration of software and hardware, unusual data trends, training requirements based on needs analysis.
  • Plan and organise broad range of complex activities; formulates, adjusts plans or strategies Plans specialist projects which impact across clinical and non clinical areas. E.g. Planning training delivery for a team of trainers or for a new system.
  • Developing Data Warehouse documentation.

Knowledge

  • Specialist knowledge and expertise across one or more specialised areas, acquired through degree level or equivalent qualification/experience plus additional specialist knowledge.
  • Detailed knowledge of database systems, and data warehouse modelling
  • Awareness of national digital health strategies and interoperability frameworks

Other

  • Ability to attend on-site at County Hall or Hellesdon Hospital in Norwich on a regular basis
