We have created a culture of openness and integrity by building genuine and strong relationships and partnerships, enabling us to be uncompromising in our dedication in delivering the optimal service for our clients.

Our commitment is not just towards our clients but we aim to foster a positive and equitable working environment with our consultants and colleagues which stems from our core values: Confident, Dedicated, Responsible, Genuine.

The primary objective of the Data Steward / Data Scientist role is to ensure effective data management, investigation, and quality assurance within the financial services industry — with a specific focus on KYC (Know Your Customer) and financial crime compliance. While tools like Pega provide workflow capabilities, this role dives into what the data is actually showing — or could be showing — to uncover risk, enhance detection, and enable better-informed compliance decisions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and support data investigations related to KYC and financial crime, interpreting signals and anomalies in the data to guide compliance teams.
  • Use tools like SQL and programming languages (Python, R, Java, Scala) to identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improved risk detection.
  • Evaluate what data is available through systems like Pega and recommend how it can be better structured, enriched, or visualized for real insight.
  • Build small data models to support hypothesis-driven investigations and improve understanding of customer risk profiles.
  • Apply data taxonomy and standards to ensure consistent categorization and interpretation across the business.
  • Develop and share reports/dashboards via Power BI to surface insights to key internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with compliance, legal, architecture, and IT teams to ensure alignment and secure, compliant data practices.
  • Participate in data migrations and integrations, ensuring data accuracy and readiness for use in regulatory processes.
  • Operate within an Agile team, contributing to planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Key Requirements

  • Strong experience in data management, investigation, and quality within financial services or compliance functions.
  • Advanced SQL skills; ability to code and manipulate data in Python, R, Java, or Scala.
  • Proven experience with KYC, AML/CTF, Sanctions, and Transaction Monitoring, particularly from a data-driven lens.
  • Comfort with interpreting and improving what systems like Pega present — bridging the gap between workflow automation and meaningful insights.
  • Proficiency in building clear, actionable reports in Power BI.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and regulatory data requirements.
  • Exposure to SAFe or Agile delivery environments.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and risk controls.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and translate regulatory requirements into actionable data improvements.
