The Intelligenceand Investigations team supports this by identifying andinvestigating misuses of our products - especially new types ofabuse. This enables our partner teams to develop data-backedproduct policies and build scaled safety mitigations. Preciselyunderstanding abuse allows us to safely enable users to builduseful things with our products. About the Role As a Data Scientiston the Monitoring Operations team, you will be responsible forbuilding systems to proactively identify abuse on OpenAIs products.This includes ensuring we have robust monitoring in place for newproducts, and can sustain monitoring for existing products. Youwill also respond to critical escalations, especially those thatare not caught by our existing safety systems. This will requireexpert understanding of our products and data, and involves workingcross-functionally with product, policy, and engineering teams.This role is based in our London office and includes participationin an on-call rotation that will involve resolving urgentescalations outside of normal work hours. Some investigations mayinvolve sensitive content, including sexual, violent, orotherwise-disturbing material. In this role, you will: 1. Scope andimplement monitoring requirements for new product launches. Thisinvolves working with Product and Policy teams to understand keyrisks, and working with Engineering teams to ensure we havesufficient data and tooling. 2. Improve processes to sustainmonitoring operations for existing products. This includesdeveloping approaches to automate monitoring subtasks. 3.Experience prototyping and launching abuse detection. 4. Comfortwith and experience directly investigating bad actors or behavioursand/or working with investigative experts. You might thrive in thisrole if you: 1. Have at least 4 years of experience doing technicalanalysis, especially in SQL and Python. 2. Experience using LLMs toautomate work. 3. Experience developing/improving policies and/orhuman review protocols. 4. Have experience in trust and safetyand/or have worked closely with policy, enforcement, andengineering teams. 5. Have experience with basic data engineering,such as building core tables or writing data pipelines (notexpected to build infrastructure or write production code). 6. Haveexperience scaling and automating processes, especially withlanguage models.
