Data Quality & Governance Manager - Leeds - Hybrid - £70k - £75k


My client are greenfielding an entire data practice! The chosen candidate for this role will lead efforts to ensure data across the organization is consistent, reliable, and governed effectively. You’ll develop and implement frameworks for data quality, governance, and master data management. You will ensure the effective management of data warehouse architecture, pipelines, and support data migrations using a combination of Snowflake and Microsoft Azure technologies.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead Data Governance Strategy: Develop and execute the overall data governance and quality strategy, aligned with business needs and global standards.
  • Data Warehouse Architecture & Pipelines: Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure data is structured, optimized, reliable, trusted and understandable:
  • Support the design of pipelines and data models to ensure that data governance and quality rules are seamlessly integrated.
  • Support data migrations to new platforms ensuring smooth transitions and data integrity.
  • Master Data Management (MDM): Define and implement MDM processes to standardize key domains like customer, vendor, product, and location data across the organization.
  • Data Profiling and Quality: Lead efforts in data profiling to identify quality gaps and design data quality rules to improve data across the organization.
  • Data Classification and Access Governance: Implement data classification models and access controls to protect sensitive and critical data assets, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Data Lineage and Documentation: Define and maintain data lineage to provide transparency into data flows and transformations across systems and departments.
  • Critical Data Element (CDE) Management: Define and manage CDEs and establish governance processes around them to prioritize data quality.
  • Data Migration Support: Ensure data migrations (e.g., from legacy systems are carried out with full attention to data quality, security, and governance.


Requirements

  • Strong expertise in data warehouse architecture and experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Snowflake and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience designing and managing data pipelines in cloud environments, ensuring integration of data governance principles into them.
  • Hands-on experience with data migrations, ensuring data integrity, security, and quality during platform transitions.
  • Deep knowledge of data quality techniques, including data profiling, validation rules, and data remediation processes.
  • Familiarity with data classification, metadata management, and data access governance to secure sensitive data.
  • Understanding of industry compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, SOX) and how they relate to data governance and data quality.
