The opportunity:

We are looking for a Data Governance Leader to join our data leadership team and become our champion for data governance, supporting data risk management across Leonardo UK. As the lead for data governance, you will take on an exciting and unique opportunity to build the core capabilities that protect data assets for Leonardo UK. If you have the ambition to build and mature a data governance capability across all Business Divisions and Functions in Leonardo UK, this role is for you.

What you’ll do as our Data Governance Lead

Report to the Head of Data and Analytics as part of the Data Leadership Team in the D&IT Function in Leonardo UK representing data governance. Be the product owner of our data catalogue. Support the implementation and deployment of our data catalogue solution as product owner. Define and embed data governance processes using the data catalogue into our hub and spoke model for delivering data and analytics. Operate in the DPMT (Data Protection Management Team) to provide coordination of decision support packs, status and audit of data governance evaluations with our legal and commercial partners. Provide operational data governance support for data incidents, data governance investigations aligned to our data governance policy. Develop policy and assets that provide guidance for data governance processes. Develop a roadmap of maturity and continuous improvement to support the rollout of data governance initiatives across our business stakeholders. Develop the upskilling and education of our workforce by delivering content in the Digital Academy to support data governance awareness and maturity.

What we need from you:

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to operate and influence stakeholders across all levels of our organisation. You are able to provide investigations and insight into data governance challenges and offer solutions and options to manage data risks. You will have experience in data catalogue tooling and understand how these tools can be used as enablers for data governance processes. You will have proven experience of operating in a data governance role covering regulation and compliance of Military Data, Intellectual Property and Personal Identifiable Information. You may have data governance related qualifications or training in areas such as DAMA (Certified Data Management Professional) or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
