The role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Governance lead to drive our data governance strategy, encompassing quality, security and compliance of our data assets. In addition, the Data Governance lead will establish framework and policies to support our data strategy of unifying and democratising data across ITV, whilst safeguarding ITV against any risk.

This newly created role is part of our central data function, reporting directly to the Chief Data and AI Officer and collaborating closely with the leadership team. We’re seeking a hands-on, pragmatic leader who is ready to roll up their sleeves and drive effective, practical governance across ITV.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Define data governance goals, policies, and standards
  • Establish and monitor data quality metrics to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, and other relevant data protection regulations
  • Partner with data owners, stewards, and business leaders to drive adoption of governance and quality practices
  • Establish procedures for data classification, security, and lifecycle management
  • Collaborate with data architecture, engineering and platform teams to ensure governance is embedded into technical workflows
  • Promote a culture of data stewardship and accountability through training and education programs

Skills you’ll need(minimum criteria)

  • Extensive experience in data governance, data management and data protection regulation (e.g. GDPR)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Familiarity with AI, GenAI and emerging technologies in data governance and their ethical implications is ideal
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
  • Strategic thinker with a strong ability to align data governance practices with organisational goals
