We're seeking a hardworking Data Engineering Manager to support the delivery of our data transformation. Working with your data engineers, you'll collaborate with partners from across the business to implement the data strategy, delivering value to the organisation and achieving our goal of democratising data. You'll be an advocate for our industry-leading Cloud Data Platform. As an equal partner with the Product and Delivery teams, you will deliver elegant and robust solutions to solve complex problems for our customers and colleagues.

What you'll do

  • Lead the engineering teams to build and maintain high-quality and reliable data solutions and own the data engineering excellence of their teams e.g., behaviours, operations, and technical quality.
  • Line manage and develop engineers to ensure they have the right skills, development plans, and attitude to learning.
  • Develop effective relationships with Product, Delivery, and Data Science teams to prioritise, problem solve, and maximise value to market.
  • Work with the wider Data Technology function to shape the technical strategy.
  • Help develop/improve M&S standard frameworks and policies, ensuring that they are understood and adopted.

  • Experience building and leading teams of highly skilled data engineers that deliver high-quality software.
  • Solid background in data engineering, with experience in a variety of systems and technologies.
  • Good knowledge in cloud-based data technologies and data warehousing design principles, preferably Azure.
  • Good understanding of Data Science principles.
  • Proven track record in delivering, operating, leading, hiring, and pivoting along with excellent people management, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and advocate for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
