The role…
Reporting to the Product Director, the Data Engineer is a crucial member of the Engineering team that will design, build, and operate the technical implementation for Data Products. The portfolio will include the existing client-facing data products like Data Navigator, future new datasets we develop from our Roadmap, as well as internal tools for research analysts to find operational efficiency from an enhanced digitized workflow, and finally potentially AGI features to explore content. This will be a key role within the company as Verdantix replatforms to create a single client facing portal for subscription customers and internal users
For this role we are considering applications in the region of£45,000 - £52,000(dependent on experience) with a very competitive bonus, paid quarterly.
What you’ll be doing…
- Manage data pipelines that connect research outputs and third-party data sources to Verdantix client-facing data products.
- Monitor data workflows, identify and resolve issues, and ensure the optimisation and smooth functioning of data pipelines.
- Programmatically ingest data from various (internal and external) sources into data systems
- Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines to move and process data between systems and sources.
- Construct API endpoints from backend data and integrate with front end data visualizations
- Evaluate the potential for different Generative AI apps, tools and models to improve data gathering, processing and usability for internal users and clients.
- Document architecture, implementation plans, code base for future reference and collaboration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn structured research content into client-facing data products with a great user experience.
What we’re looking for…
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field
- Min 2 years’ experience as a Data Engineer or Software Engineer in a product or engineering team.
- Ability to leverage AWS cloud-based services and infrastructure for scalable data storage, processing, and hosting solutions, including the deployment and management of servers via DevOps pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python to deliver data pipelines. Additional programming languages (JavaScript, R, Java, C#, etc) desirable but not essential.
- Experience building data models in business intelligence tools and collaborating on the design of visualization layers.
- Previous exposure to, or strong interest in Generative AI.
- Desire to support the development of data products that have a positive impact on sustainability and climate change initiatives.
- A demonstrated interest in building products and collaborating with researchers on innovative analytics.
