Job Description Summary

Nadara is hiring a Data Architect with expertise in cloud data platforms to design, evolve, and optimize our enterprise data platforms. This role will be responsible for developing company’s cloud-based data platform environment and ensure its operations are optimized to performance and scalability standards.

The Data Architect will also provide technical leadership in data, analytics, and AI, collaborating with the Data, Analytics, and AI team, business stakeholders, and third-party partners to operate, manage, and develop Nadara’s cloud computing and data platform across all areas of the business.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage data platform architectures as a foundation for advanced analytics development.
  • Monitor and optimize data platform performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the data platform, including incident management, disaster recovery planning, and system updates.
  • Designing and managing data lifecycle management, including versioning, archiving and retention policies.
  • Work with analytics teams to develop data models and AI / ML / analytics use cases.
  • Create, extend, and manage enterprise data models that allow for consolidation of data from disparate domains, supporting analytical solutions.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation and enable impactful use cases.
  • Design technical and IT architecture of use cases and solutions agreed upon principles and standards.
  • Communicate data architecture to stakeholders and collaborate with existing domain owners in the development of use cases and solutions.
  • Supervise and guide the work of junior data engineers/architects while collaborating with other teams.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, security and governance throughout the organization, in collaboration with the Cyber Security team.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with one or more of major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, GCP BigQuery).
  • Proficiency in cloud-based data platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure Fabric (understanding Spark, Delta Lake, etc).
  • Familiarity with both relational (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Strong SQL skills; experience in Python or Scala for data engineering tasks; familiarity with version control systems.
  • Understanding of enterprise data architecture patterns, including data lake, data warehouse, lakehouse, and cloud-native designs.
  • Experience with Inmon, Data Vault 2.0, Kimball, and dimensional modelling.
  • Knowledge of integration patterns, ETL/ELT processes, and tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend) to orchestrate data workflows.
  • Familiarity with DevOps/MLOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Basic understanding of data security measures, encryption, IAM, and compliance (GDPR, CCPA); ability to evaluate potential vulnerabilities and recommend mitigations.
  • Ability to identify technical risks and performance bottlenecks, then devise strategies to mitigate or optimize.
  • Understanding of data lineage, metadata management, cataloguing tools, data quality frameworks, and data stewardship processes.
  • Basic knowledge of event streaming tools for real-time data ingestion and processing (Kafka or other).
  • Drive for evaluating and recommending new tools, frameworks, and platforms that align with changing business needs.

Business Skills

  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Ability to convey technical language to stakeholders often in simple and business parlance.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in project and change management.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • Ability to nurture a data-driven culture, guide cross-functional teams, and promote best practices.
  • Experience in evaluating third-party solutions, negotiate contracts, and build productive relationships.
  • Ability to identify gaps in delivery plans and be able to mitigate through thought leadership and management skills.

Education And Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or another quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Architect Role, preferably working in cloud data platforms.

Travel Requirements And Working Place

  • Position to be considered across geographies in which Nadara has offices.
  • Hybrid working regime (office and work from home).
  • Travelling occasionally required.
