Overall job purpose

The pace of innovation within RSM is increasing all the time and this has created the need for additional skills within the firm in relation to data and analytics.

The role will be responsible for driving the adoption and deployment of data analytics across the firm by successfully delivering client facing project work and generating and driving internal innovation solutions.

The Transactions Data Analytics team works with multiple service lines however this role will predominantly involve working closely with the financial due diligence team, supporting them to analyse large and difficult data sets using Alteryx and other tools, before then visualising findings in innovative and interactive ways through Microsoft Power BI and Excel, on both buy and sell side transactions. The internal innovation aspect of the role will involve identifying areas elsewhere across the business where analytics tools can drive efficiency and improve operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Quickly review, consolidate, cleanse, and reconcile large quantities of disparate data to identify any issues and prioritise project requirements.
  • Uncover and interpret trends from business data and other available data sources.
  • Understand how to develop and build dashboards, reports, and other visualisations for stakeholders to tell the story of the data.
  • Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across the business, regardless of seniority or technical understanding.
  • Support the development of a data-centric culture within RSM's transactions business by providing support, guidance, and training.
  • Coach and develop team members contributing to the teams dynamic learning environment and culture.
  • Contribute to and lead the continuous improvement of analytic best practices and frameworks within RSM's transactions business.
  • Lead improvements in how RSM's transactions business's visualisations are delivered and own the visual style and narrative.
  • Deliver work to high standards within a fast-moving deal environment.

About you

This role is in an agile team, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders so excellent communication skills are essential. Our next colleague will be experienced in utilising data analytics tools within a financial due diligence setting across a broad range of transaction types. They should have strong problem-solving skills and demonstrable experience of delivering against challenging deadlines. They should be passionate about data analytics and their own continual development.

Personal and professional qualities:

  • Fully qualified ACA (or equivalent)
  • Relevant post qualification financial due diligence data analytics experience
  • Experience with data analytics tools (e.g. Alteryx, Qlik, RStudio)
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, Excel)
  • Excellent logical problem solver
  • Natural team leader comfortable managing others and contributing to wider team strategy
  • Demonstrate strong analytical mindset and high level of attention to detail
    Demonstrate successful interactions with business and technical stakeholders
  • Experience of working with a variety of datasets and being able to shape and manipulate data
  • Experience of delivering and presenting insights through visualisation of data
  • High standard of written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter able to master a brief quickly, taking complete ownership of the delivery of multiple financial due diligence data analytics projects at the same time. Prioritising appropriately and demonstrating an understanding of commercial risk and sensitivity to risk management
  • Demonstrate a proven record of resilience and thriving under pressure
  • Ability to prioritise effectively across multiple projects whilst managing others. Delegate and review effectively whilst working to challenging deadlines
  • Excellent facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Focused and versatile team player who is comfortable under pressure, ambiguity, frequent change, or unpredictability.

Desirable skills

  • Experience of working with analytical languages (Python/R).
